First Date
Two souls sat across from each other Careful and coy, the air thick with constipation
Fingers fidget with forks like fiddles
While toes tap to the tempo of tortured talk
Two souls sat across from each other
Braver, breathing deeply; the banter more bellicose
Hands are higher as hearts hum in harmony
His foot unfolds and fondly folds into mine
Smiling we searched for signs of something more
As two souls sat across from each other.
