FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Chann endorses Misiuk for Student Body President
Portland, ME, February 25, 2013 – Student Senator Marpheen Chann has announced his endorsement of Isaac Misiuk for Student Body President, citing his experience with the College Republicans, Student Senate, and his work as the Director of Student Development in current SBP Adam Higgin's cabinet as a testament to his credibility as a candidate for office.
"Although we lie on opposite ends of the political spectrum, we have both crossed party and ideological lines to work on issues that impact the Student Body. With our connections to various organizations and to both political parties in Augusta, I look forward to continue working with Misiuk in resolving issues that have yet to be resolved." - Marpheen Chann, Student Senator (Commuter)
Isaac Misiuk helped to establish the College Republicans and currently serves as its chairman and has led the group to various events where they have networked with notable officials such as former Senator Olympia Snowe and Senator Susan Collins. After serving briefly in the Student Senate in the fall semester, Misiuk was invited by SBP Adam Higgins to serve as the Director of Student Development, where he has worked with administrative officials in aiding USM students with career development and networking opportunities. Now, Misiuk is seeking to bring those skills and experiences to the office of Student Body President.
"I find him agreeable and level-headed despite in an environment set in its ways. Being in Senate with him, I've seen him express opinions that are his own, regardless of what others say because he isn't afraid to say what needs to be said or do what needs to be done." - Christian Evans, President of Phi Mu Delta, Nu Xi Chapter
Senator Chann is delighted to endorse a fellow student who has shown leadership, experience, and integrity and is looking forward to working with Isaac Misiuk to represent the needs of the Student Body and to fix the problems that have gone unresolved for years.
