bThis was the view I came home to around 7pm tonight. I live on Verrill Street right in front of the school I used to go to back in the late 90s.
But now I'm resting after a full day. I headed out the door around 7 am this morning and grabbed a protein bar and some water from Riverton Gas to get ready for the day ahead.
I was looking forward to spending the day focusing on meeting voters and knocking on doors - something that is hard to do during the week sometimes after working 9-5, Monday thru Fridays. Plus, it's getting darker earlier.
One of the first streets I hit had a house with no cars in the driveway and the side door open with a patio blocked off by a child/dog gate. Suffice it to say that I woke up the entire neighborhood as all two or three dogs began to bark. That is, until I walked up and made some new friends!
Unfortunately, I haven't restocked on TD Bank dog treats so I didn't have any to take with me. They usually come in handy when you find a dog doing its solemn duty as their owner's best friend and protector.
After calming the dogs and wrapping up that street, I headed over to Hicks Street, where I discovered this beautiful gazebo:
I was pretty impressed by the design, but was surprised to find a rival later on in the day when I was meeting voters (or, a voter) on Dayton Street.
It was around 1pm then and slightly warmer than in the morning - so that pool was looking pretty tempting. By 5pm, a nap was also looking pretty good as I was making my way through the doors on Newton Street. This cat sunbathing near a vase of sunflowers was a reminder of that.
Finally, I'd like to end by showing you this photo of one of the favorite signs that I've seen today:
